Pattani defence volunteer slain

A defence volunteer was killed and a villager injured in a drive-by shooting in Pattani’s Kapo district late Saturday afternoon, police said.

Police received a report about 5.45pm of the attack at a petrol station at Ban Luthu in tambon Plong Hoi, said Sub Lt Piyapat Duangsuk, a duty officer at Kapo police station.

The victims were identified as Sakip Balaki Dengla, 24, a defence volunteer attached to Kapo district office, and a villager, Sa-uding Jehdo.

If Thai newspapers kept a running total of the dead and injured on their front pages I think within 30 day some heads in Bangkok would have rolled and perhaps the defense personnel in the South would have new proactive leadership.

It is depressing to read in every report " the police are investigating". On the rare occasions when they identify murderers they usually surround them at dawn and always the majority escape almost as if a back channel is left open.

If there is a comment about red shirts there will be 50 instant posts. People are slaughtered down South daily yet rarely are there any comments from farang or Thais.
