Chalerm: I'm Thaksin's servant

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung insists he will not answer questions from the media if a Channel 7 reporter is among the interviewing group, and has admitted he has been serving fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra for a long time.

"From now on, I won't give interviews if Ms Somjit Nawakruasunthorn is in that particular group of reporters because I don't want to have a quarrel.

"I've been Thaksin's servant for a long time -- don't you know that?" Mr Chalerm told reporters on Monday.

'She asked whether the government wants a “one-way communication” and if so, could people still call the administration with such ideas as a “democratic government”?'

Of course he wants one way communication; every dictatorship does.

Good for him, why tolerate a persistent and tough questioning reporter. Why are paparazzi called paparazzi ?

Good on you Charlerm why should you talk to some reporter that simply wants to make a problem with thier foul mouth.

Man..if this was the US the press would have a field day of him

If more media people such as Ms Somjit stood up to all the lies the politicians tell on a daily basis and challenged them for the truth, the politicians couldn't get away lies and corruption so easy. After yesterday when Thaksin denies he is calling the shots for Yingluck, Chalerm admits he is.

Abbisitt and the dems closed down hundreds of radio stations, tv channels and newspapers because they did'nt want the people to know the truth about their dirty deeds

Utterly shameless. I hope Chalerm one day gets supeona'd in the case of Dissolving Peua Thai for being 'a brazen proxy representative of a fugitive criminal'. Well done Somjit!!

I expect that, as a cabinet member and government official, K. Chalerm would have taken an oath to uphold the constitution and the laws of the country.

Wouldn't his admission to be in the service of a convicted lawbreaker and fugitive constitute a conflict of interest? Just wondering...
