Woman held captive in drug plan

SAMUT PRAKAN: A Nigerian national was accused of raping a Thai woman, holding her captive for over a week and forcing her to practice swallowing drugs so she could be used to smuggle cocaine to the US, reports said.

Police on Monday rescued a 29-year-old woman (name withheld) who was locked in a rented room in an apartment complex in Muang district.

According to the police, the victim was lured to the room by a Nigerian man called Maxie.

D3&4: I would be an exception. The old girlfriend constantly tried to turn the relationship into a financial transaction. She didn't last long. The new one (who I've known for a long time) has a different sense of values and priorities.

Not all Thai women see "farangs" as walking ATM machines. Conversely, many Thai women think of their boyfriends as walking ATM machines, "farang" or otherwise. ;)

I don't know about your experiences back home but I grew up in USA and Latin America and for some strange reason gf's and ex's did not want to be lavished with money / gifts.Theirs and my demographics were similar. Seems the bottom line despite the rationalizations, is that a HIGH % of farang guys get connected with Thai women in need of financial assistance. Additionally, the patronage system seems to extend exceptionally strongly amongst Thai-Farang couples (exceptions duly noted)

Whatever people's feelings are about Thai women and them only seeing foreign men as an ATM, there is some truth to this of course as such women do exist, however this is no more truthful as wives and girlfriends back home in the west want to be lavished with money / gifts.

These posters are a disgrace in believing that this women deserved her ordeal for simply being naive. I'm guessing she doesn't read the expat forums hey!! and if she was in fact complicit, at least she didn't actually go through with smuggling, and has made steps to put a possible sex offender and drug trafficker in police sights.

by the way, thailand is still a poor country and the people need money more for approaching the standard of life in Bangkok. The woman is not blind by greed. She won't earn money if she knew earning in illegaly way. She just want to go to US and she thought the earning of money is in easy and legaly way as doing business. The problem is Nigerian man should never allowed to enter into Thailand at all

When I read until this sentence "Many posters agreed that this should serve as a lesson to Thai women who see foreigners as ar cash cow" I can understand the mentality of Thai people. They just want to blame on the victim and want the victim to learn the lesson from their failure. If Thai people think like the Western people do, so it could help many victims in distress. In Norway, we think that the suspect must be found and put in custody first then the victim must be take care of the different professionals of medical and psychology, because without the suspect without the victim.
