Abhisit brushes aside Sukumpol's offer

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva has brushed aside Defence Minister Sukumpol Suwanatat's letter giving him 10 days to submit evidence in defence against an order to remove his military rank for draft-dodging.

Mr Abhisit said he would not follow ACM Sukumpol's advice because he had already filed a petition for the Administrative Court to rule whether the rank-stripping order was illegal and with the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

Moreover, he looked into the law and learned that the rank-stripping order signed by ACM Sukumpol on Nov 8, if legal and already in effect, could not be revoked.

Sure Abhisit is innocent until proven guilty. But that only goes for a court of law. The court of public opinion has entirely different rules and should be more important to a politician.

Once again, it is not a matter of a "lost" document, the army have the documents and have already stated that THEY ARE FALSE and punished the officers responsible.
The point at issue is did Abhisit KNOW that the documents were fake or was it done without his knowledge. The army has said he did not know but refuses to explain how they reached that conclusion.

Not having 25 year old documents doesn't indicate guilt.
It means you don't have 25 year old documents... nothing more.

The only thing proven is the desperate lengths Peua Thai will go to to try to cast some hint of impropriety on Abhisit.

Tax evasion, abuse of power, corruption and human rights abuses are ignored as the Defence Minister pursues a 25 year old witchhunt while the the South burns.

Disc3 Android - as usual you are bereft of facts...

There IS no court involved in this 'case'. There is only a committee appointed by Sukumpol - is it any wonder that all its decisions have been pro-Sukumpol and anti-Abhisit?

Should the DEM ever be elected into Government, they can always “reinstate” AV’s rank and then returning the complement by checking on Sukumpol’s days in Service. In any case, everyone involved in this case will have their days in the Court and most probably this situation will boomerang on some PT high profile people, assuming that this “arrangement” or other forms are being practiced by many privilege elites on both sides of the aisles.

as I understand it, with my limited knowledge. Mr Abhisit sent a letter asking ACM Sukumpol for justice. ACM Sukumpol replies giving Mr Abhisit 10 days to submit evidence in his defense. Having requested the chance to prove his innocence Mr Abhisit is now brushing the offer aside.

AV ask for justice from the DM and now refuses to prove his innocence again. He does not trust the military law so he tries to use the civilian courts which have nothing to do with the military. The military have already shown documented proof of draft dodging. Why does he refuse to show the certified documents and clear his name if he has them. Again the use of the civilian courts in an attempt to change a military ruling does not seem within their juridiction. AV's refusal is no suprise and the longer he keeps this up the more guilty he becomes.

Abhisit was unable to explain how or why the documents that had submitted were fake and had forged signatures. They had asked him several times to explain this and he brushed them off and tried to delay answering. While most of the well to do people did the same thing, that does not make it either legal or correct.

The case is out to rest. Ahbisit does not have any evidence and now pleading malfeasance. At least he did not plead that he lost the evidence or the evidence was eaten by termites. That would be quite silly.

Abhisit is 100% right to brush aside the Sukumpol's offer.
The Sukumpol's offer is only a trap and Abhisit is not stupid to play this insane game...
