Seh Ai resigns Pitak Siam leadership

BANGKOK - Gen Boonlert Kaewprasit has stepped down from the leadership role of the anti-government Pitak Siam group, and says he will have no hand in organising future political protests.

Gen Boonlert on Monday also denied having accepted money from fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to end the mass rally at the Royal Plaza on Saturday.

The retired general said he decided to call off the mass gathering because he did not want to put supporters in harm's way, pointing to the morning clashes in which the riot police fired tear gas at the crowd. Scores of people were injured and taken to hospitals that day.

    .

If a man fell, do we need to step on him ?

It was good in a way that the rally was called off. Imagine if your brothers / sisters were there... and ....shit... I hate to think.

RE: D1 the entire yellow shirt movement has fragmented into splinter groups that can not get along with each other nor could they even get along with the DP party that they put into power who also rejected half their wacky ideas. They have nothing in common at all but their want for government that they can control. They can not even field a candidate because they do not have a coherent message about anything except they ask for more censorship and an appointed government and TS out of there way.

The whole protest played out like a set-up.Thai soap opera at its best.

Boonlert said:"I regretted seeing police hurting people while the armed forces stood by and did nothing”. What for Boonlert the armed forces should have done? Maybe shoot at the policemen and then stage a new coup?
Boonlert also admitted that during the rally he was in contact with the commander of the 1st Region Army, Lt Gen Paiboon Kumchaya, and the deputy army chief, Gen Dapong Rattanasuwan, to “assess the situation”.
2 quotes which show that Boonlert tried to incite a coup but luckily the Army said NO and the Boonlert's plan failed miserably.

His resignation says a lot about the 'organisation' he headed. If support for him was strong, would he have resigned?
