Fearful teachers close state schools in Pattani

PATTANI - Teachers living in fear of their lives have closed all public schools in Pattani, demanding the government and security forces do more to protect them from the continual, lethal attacks by southern militants.

The Confederation of Teachers in the Southern Border Provinces agreed at a meeting on Monday to close all 332 public schools in the province until they get better protection.

They are also in communication with leaders of teachers in adjoining Narathiwat and Yala provinces, asking them to also go on strike to send a strong message to the government and the authorities.

i have asked this question time and time again.......... where are the insurgents coming from? looking at the map of thailand and malaysia i can only assume that they make their way from malaysia. where are they based? certainly not in thailand surely? i again assume that they are based in malaysia, am i right? if so, what exactly are the malyasian government doing to aid thailand in combating these terrorists and murderers? it would appear that the answer is 'nothing'! please reply to my questions as i am at a loss to understand exactly what we are doing to rid ourselves of this menace.
