An estranged Thai-Malaysian couple committed suicide by drowning themselves in Songkhla province, leaving two small children orphaned.

Police on Saturday found the bodies of a man and a woman floating, with the man's arms around the woman's waist, in a pond in tambon Samnak Kham in Sadao district, Thai Rath reported.

Police estimated that they had been dead for about two days. They were later identified as Son Iw Sin, 46, a Malaysian man and his Thai wife, Jarinya Saeyang, 33.

If the statement from a friend was legitimate, then the conclusion seems reasonable enough, though you would still expect the police to inspect for signs of violence on both bodies. The suggestion that they constantly argued seems a bit at odds with the conclusion, but people rarely behave rationally in their relationships. From what we know here, I only feel sorry for the children and the family the man left in Malaysia. Also, I don't see where in the article it says police are not conducting a proper investigation and autopsy, only that they have established a working theory.

This does not mean they committed suicide.

"Police .. decided to take an easy way out."

Looks like the police themselves are taking the easy way out. By making such a conclusion without proper investigation and autopsy, there is no justice for the dead and their 2 young children.
