Arisman gets jail for defaming Abhisit

Red-shirt co-leader Arisman Pongruangrong was sentenced to one year imprisonment by a the Criminal Court judge on Monday, with no suspension, in a judgement on a defamation case brought against him by Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva.

Arisman was sued for defamation accusing the opposition leader as ordering the killing of people in his speech on Oct 11 and Oct 17, 2009. He must advertise the apology in two newspapers for seven days.

His lawyer filed an application for bail, offering a 100,000 baht guarrantee, saying he would take the ruling to the Appeals Court.

Isn't he currently on 6million bail for terrorism. Can he really get bail again on this new charge for a measly 100k.

One day perhaps BP might consider an article explaining the bail system. I would love to understand the logic of granting bail for sentenced murderers(two cases involve police) or for Arisman who is considered such a flight risk a high bail had to be set including a ban from leaving the country yet , apparently he still retains his passport.

First Well done to the Courts on this matter, guess the reds have lost there control over ruling now

In a normal country you spend your waiting time in Jail for the Appeals Court hearing

    Finally one sent to jail,
but in just a day or two,
he'll be out again on bail.

You and me know very well,
    Justice hardly will prevail.

One of the red-shirt leaders is already in jail; this one might go to jail, so maybe only 10 more are left to have their day in court to fight their terrorism charges.
And imagine if the judges would make a deal with them that they have to serve only half their time in jail if they reveal their master who planned and financed the 2010 red mayhem. There could be reconciliation and peace again in Thailand.

One down, many more to go. Red and yellow that is.
