Sacked Cathay stewardess admits she was wrong

A Thai airline stewardess at the centre of a controversy over a coffee-throwing threat has formally resigned from her job at Cathay Pacific, and urged the public not to hold a grudge against Hong Kong's flag carrier.

The flight attendant posted the message on her Facebook on Monday night, not long after Cathay Pacific made an announcement that she was no longer listed as an employee working for the airline.

"Today [Monday] I resigned as a flight attendant for Cathay Pacific Airline to show responsibility for the problem that has happened and the damaged done to the image of the airline,'' the message said.

Disc 29 - They may check while the flight is close to arrival if you have their name and flight number, but they sure won't give you that information days prior to departure that becomes a security and privacy issue.

@Boontong: I don't know what planet you came from? Passengers manifest is never a confidential, you can just walk into the airlines information counters and ask that your friends or relatives are coming on what so and so flight, and they will check it for you. Unless, your friends or relatives are terrorists and that is another story.
Just because she wanted to throw coffee on Thaksin's daughter - it is not a crime. I want to do the same thing too, just a wishful thinking. So you are the redshirt eh? I believe there are more than just me and the heroine flight attendance that dislike the Thaksin's clan.

D27@ricefiled 'It was reported in a bunch of other papers and news media. CP was investigating the leak before the coffee incident' Care to enlighten us with a link as all I can find suggests the Facebook postings (including the photo of the seat of Ms Shinawatra seat number) only happened after the flight on 25th November and nothing suggest Ms Shinawatra was even aware there was an issue during the flight

Disc 21 - If you are flying in and out of CNX to the Pacific rim give Korean a try. We've had very good experiences with them. Although you are in and out in the middle of the night, but no lineups.

Disc 23 - It was reported in a bunch of other papers and
news media. CP was investigating the leak before the coffee incident.

Disc 25 - Lots of terrorist/radical groups on facebook. You do not have to " friend" someone to share their time line with your friends if their time line is public. That's why the coffee incident went viral.

    surfer,

"i have many friends, red shirts, here in chiang mai, and i know they have a lot of money,"
Looks like you just fell into kasper's trap.

"i travelled sometimes with Cathay, but maybe i will choose another airline in the future"
I'm sure they will miss you.

    ricefield,

"...to release their names prior to arrival..."
Doesn't say anywhere it was posted prior to arrival. Your assumption.

"..my make CP a target for terrorists"
Only if there are terrorists among her facebook friends? What's the likelihood?

Still, she published airline confidential information, obviously wrong and poor judgment considering her 24 years of employment.

Just goes to show, The Shinawatras have created such hatred among a sector of society that a women is willing to risk her job and employer's reputation in a rash moment of emotional FB outburst. Pity about that; for the airline, the women, Paetongtarn and Thailand. Definitely a coffee cup storm brewing...

D19@ricefield - 'released the passenger manifest of a flight yet to take off' I have not seen any statement to this effect. I do not think we know whether the manifest information was released before, during or after the flight

"She confirmed that Cathay Pacific, where she had worked for 24 years, has excellent safety procedures and an international level of service standard." This incident confirmed that CX's passenger's confidentiality, and security have been compromised. Their license should be suspended, and a review of the airline's passenger confidentiality and security procedures conducted.
