Reds want Abhisit, Suthep detained

Red-shirt lawyers on Tuesday asked the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) not to allow bail for ex-prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his former deputy Suthep Thaugsuban.

Lawyers Karom Phonpornklang and Winyat Chartmontri were accompanied by relatives of protesters killed in the 2010 political violence when they handed the petition to DSI chief Tarit Pengdit.

Mr Abhisit and Mr Suthep are scheduled to report to DSI investigators on Thursday afternoon to acknowledge charges of authorising the killing of anti-government protesters by soldiers during the April-May 2010 violence in Bangkok.

All I wish for is that the Courts fast tract all cases on Red yellow and goverment and close off this pending matter then we can all move forward and enjoy our lives

It always take so long here for a case to come to court

They will get bail since the yellow/PAD leaders never get a day behind bars, and they keep postponing the hearings. Too bad, UDD/Red shirt, you don't have the same privilege. You are second class.

But where would they run??? They haven't stolen nearly enough money, during their time in office, to afford a cozy hideout in Dubai or some such place.

And these would be the same lawyers that wanted bail for Korkaew Pikulthong who threatened civil war if the reds didn't get their way in court. His justification for bail was that he was invited to a dinner party by Yingluck and the country would fall apart without him. No bail allowed for Mr Abhisit and Mr Suthep however who gave warning after warning that they would have no choice, but to use force if the red shirts did not disperse. If the red shirts were a little bit more intelligent they'd still be stupid. Just imagine if Abhisit didn't use force and Bangkok burnt down and hundreds died in the fire. He would still be held accountable.

The vindictiveness + revenge-seeking of UDD + Peu Thai members is, sadly, a reflection of the diviseveness brought about solely for the purpose of a man who ran away from justice rather than stand up and fight to prove his innocence ... or otherwise ...

There is no question at all who holds the moral high-ground here ... Abhisit + Suthep ... they have the courage to face their accusers and accept the due judicial process ... men of principple, men of honour.

Yes, no bail for sure. After all, they might decide to go to an overseas sporting event and neglect to return and redeem their bail bonds.

Once again a mob shows up to make demands.

I doubt that Abhisit would abscond overseas. The man (whether you like it or not) does have principles.

He is not a coward like another ex-prime minister!!

    Double standards ?

'If Mr Abhisit and Mr Suthep were to be released on bail they must also be required to strictly comply with bail conditions, the same as the red-shirts'
