DSI chief defends murder charge

Department of Special Investigation chief Tarit Pengdith on Friday defended the DSI's decision to lay murder charges against former premier Abhisit Vejjajiva and his former deputy Suthep Thaugsuban in connection with the 2010 military crackdown on red-shirt protests.

He also set up an inquiry to find out who was responsible for leaking a photograph that showed Mr Abhisit being fingerprinted on Thursday in a supposedly closed room.

    Id Abhisit is so innocent why is he unwilling to sign the document acknowledging that he will not tamper with evidence and of eave the country with out approval. I personally believe that the charges are over reaching, but also most of the charges against TS were similarly so and that includes the trumped up charge of abuse of power because his wife bought a piece of land from the the totally transparent government auction. That is basically his sole conviction and has been the source of much of the political strife.

    Disc.59 pheakdey: Seh Daeng was a high ranked Army officer, who committed high treason, and breach of oath, towards his country by recruting, organising, arming, training, and leading a private militia (he proudly declared all of this, together with his allegiance to Thaksin). As such he was the leader of the (armed) red shirts' 'security team', and of the men-in-black IMO, and 'suspected' of being the brain behind bombings, grenade attacks, and shootings. Did he need to carry a gun to get shot? Did you want as your MP, alive and free, with immunity, like other 'suspected' terrorist UDD leaders?

    #73, you really mistake, i'm not English but i have a total admiration for the tolerance, the wisdom and the cleverness of the Queen of England. And be sure that she is perfectly informed of what happens in the world and she knows who is respectable or not. The same for B Obama. The both don't like the dictators and those killing their people.

    Anyone who lived here during that entire 'demonstration' knows EXACTLY who is responsible for ALL the deaths and destruction!

    D70/howell:
    If you're right (and I think you are), this thing might turn into a monumental embarrassment for the Pheu Thaksin gang! So far Abhisit has shown impeccable form and proves himself to be morally superior in every way to the fugitive convict.

    The icing on the cake would be if the case were dismissed and the opportunistic (I'm being polite here) DSI chief were to wind up in the slammer for bringing false charges.

    @Rab.Madar d69.

    I think one has to be english to give any importance to what the queen of England says about anything. Can we agree she is a human being, sitting in a counry on the other side of the planet, with no particular importance to the rest of the world and with limited knowledge about Thailand?

    Anyway, using your own logic that there is no reason to claim both sides are guilty as only one side (Abhisit) has been charged with murder. Can we then also conclude that if and when charges are dropped or he is found innocent, that he is then proven not guilty beyond doubt (even your doubt)?

    Peterd,D63 : Many reporters,especially the foreigners,were wearing dark/camoflage/black military-style clothing. Hard core reds did too,not to mention the MIB's.
    As for being suicidal,I have to disagree. If you don't leave when the authorities declares an area a "live-fire-zone" or if you enter this zone after it has been declared,you must have some kind of a death-wish. You know death is a possibility and you are solely responsible for whatever happens to you. Nothing cynic about that. I do feel sorry for the nurse and her family.

    @pheakdey, d59.

    I heard that it was actually Abhisit himself that shot Seh Dang, and when he noticed the reporters got scared they would testify against him, so he shot them to. Meanwhile he ordered Suthep to run to the temple to take out a group of unarmed people there. Unfortunately the taxi driver saw Suthep shooting at the temple, so Suthep shot him to prevent him from testifying. I was right there myself and taped the whole thing in HD. I am currently hiding the tapes at my underground bunker together with the tapes I have of the Kennedy murder and the truth about 9/11!

    Meanwhile the real and important red shirt trial is overshadowed by this nonsense.

    Clearly Thaksin is trying to bully the Dems to accept amnesty. Jatuporn opened his big mouth : 'But people of every political group should be granted an amnesty'.

    Disc 66, genil. In Thailand the Peu Thai government display democracy, as was seen by the Queen of England, (she failed to see this with Abhisits Democrats). The accused are innocent until proven guilty. Please do not refer to all sides being guilty. Only Abhisit has been charged with murder.
