DSI chief defends murder charge

Department of Special Investigation chief Tarit Pengdith on Friday defended the DSI's decision to lay murder charges against former premier Abhisit Vejjajiva and his former deputy Suthep Thaugsuban in connection with the 2010 military crackdown on red-shirt protests.

He also set up an inquiry to find out who was responsible for leaking a photograph that showed Mr Abhisit being fingerprinted on Thursday in a supposedly closed room.

    Eric d54.

Even if there were no weapons in the temple you mention, do you honestly think Abhisit gave orders to kill unarmed people?

Even if some soldiers got carried away, and I am not saying they did, and decided to shoot at unarmed people, then what does that have to do with Abhisit?

Assume the mayor of New York tells his police commander to solve a hostage situation, using lethal force if necessary. Then the police commander tells his many officers to storm the kidnappers and kill them if they resist. Some of the officers manage for some reason to shoot a few of the hostages in the chaos.

Would the mayor now be charged with mu

And the farce goes on. It will come back to bite PTP in the backside.

The fact is there were huge mistakes made by all sides here and it ended up causing heavy causalties and loss of life but as of today there has only been one group punished. Who has spent years in jail. Who has stood trial and is standing trial. With all sides guilty why is it only one side is being punished. This is the cause of the problems in the country today. Call it what you like but oppression always gives these results. Equal justice is what is needed to heal the country.

People like discussion 59 makes me understand the delusions of the reds.
"AV was trying to hide of what happen that day, that's why he ordered to kill the camera men or the news men."
You can't tell me you honestly believe that.
    Keep drinking the Kool aid.

#58, Bob again. "no arms were found in the temple". Give your sources. And i heard the reporters present in the Wat, all say the contrary you write.

#57, the impact of the propaganda on you is harmful. You give your advice with cynicism and contempt for the victims. It's just sad. The reporters make their job and have distinctive colors, as the medics. They don't come for suicide. They care live bullets (as the protesters) only in the dictatorships.

#48, your perception of the farang media is wrong. I never read a paper in the sense you talk and, for the truth, Thailand is just a touristic destination for the immense majority of world. In fact, the western countries like those fighting against a dictatorship or unjust society. And the demonstration of the Yellows shirts in the airports was the worst thing for the reputation of Thailand.

Bob dis#58, the deaths in the temple after autopsies revealed that the were the same bullets used by soldiers on the elevated tracks. These are high velocity bullets used by snipers. The innocent deaths were targeted and killed. There was no exchange of fire. Same high velocity bullets killed the camera man. Again he was targeted and no exchange of fire. Get it!

Abhisit was not liked as PM. The last election proved that Abhisit was't popular. If he had taken good advice, dissolved parliament and held earlier elections the protest would never have taken place. No deaths would have occurred.

well, unarmed man Seh Daeng got shot at right on the head by the sniper the bullet flow like an inch over the interviewer's head and kill Seh Daeng, this man has no gun on him except the microphone in his hand. AV was trying to hide of what happen that day, that's why he ordered to kill the camera men or the news men. but there is no doubt that the CNN still retain those tapes of what went on that days. that day I watched the LIVE Interview with Seh Daeng by CNN too, he got killed right on live TV show. people got shot and killed right on live TV. what a chaotic day in Thailand. seeing with my own eyes that's all I can tell.
