DSI chief defends murder charge

Department of Special Investigation chief Tarit Pengdith on Friday defended the DSI's decision to lay murder charges against former premier Abhisit Vejjajiva and his former deputy Suthep Thaugsuban in connection with the 2010 military crackdown on red-shirt protests.

He also set up an inquiry to find out who was responsible for leaking a photograph that showed Mr Abhisit being fingerprinted on Thursday in a supposedly closed room.

A very well written article. Alas the whole situation is absolutely ridiculous and I whole hartedly support Abhisit Vejjajiva and the decisions he made, alas an innocent by-stander got killed by a ricochet! None the less charge the "de-facto learder in abstentia" all's fair in love and war !!!

I distinctly heard Mark Vejjajiva say on BBC tv, that he would face his charges and have his day in court, so why did he not sign his bail conditions? It was a formality, but it would seem it was below him to guarantee in writing that he wouldn't run away. I hope they took his passport off him. Can we call him the Ex PM that has been indicted with murder? It's a lot more serious than Thaksins mandatory "fugitive former PM".
D6. You need to swat up on Thai law, the buck gets passed upwards, not downwards.

D12 : AV & ST both heard, understood but denied the charges and refused to sign the papers to acknowledge the bail conditions. Both men has done exactly what they promised to do.
What has Thaksin done? He broke the bail conditions,he left the country to live in exile and never showed up in Court. Since then,he has done everything possible to pervert justice being served...from abroad.
While AV & ST prove themselves again and again as honest and upright men, real, your idol repeatedly show the world what a coward he is. LOL!!!

@android. I very much doubt it will go to court but I really hope so. Thaksin's role will be exposed for all the world to see. So too the myths.....unarmed, peaceful demonstrators, no MIB, his lackeys were only calling for peace and love and democracy...will all be blown away. Thank goodness.

D12 You should re-read the article. The paper they refused to sign has nothing to do with what you are rambling about. By the way, my shirt is white.

It is telling that Tarit refused to say anything afterwards...

My best guess: AV & ST gave him some copies of evidence like tape recordings to point out how he was involved in those decisions.
I am very sure that this case will be the downfall of Thaksin

Simple, sign the papers you are released on bail. Refuse to sign the papers, stay in jail. So much for saying he will face the charges and even accept the death penalty if convicted. He won't even face the charges. Isn't that the opposite of what he said he would do?

Don't worry, the courts well know that this govt, meddling with the DSI and police, are making a mockery of the justice system, as this escalates the other side will probably hit back with equally absurd but realistic charge of putting Yingluck on trial for being a proxy prime minister in which she can suffer the bigger humiliation of being the first PM ever put on trial (without the benefit of a prepared speech). That's pretty much the game thats being created here.

Let the two murder suspects deny their murder charges. The case must eventually go to court for trial. It is only a matter of time.

"Under Article 200 of the Criminal Code, the DSI chief, as chief investigator in the case, was at fault for bringing false charges against the two and could be liable to life imprisonment"
A very bad weather is coming for the DSI chief.... This is the best meteo forecast of the day !
