Teen girls charged in child sex ring

Three teenage girls, one aged only 13, have been arrested for putting two sisters, aged only nine and 11, out to prostitution in Khon Kaen province.

Khon Kaen police said on Friday that two 16-year-old girls and a 13-year-old girl, had been taken into custody after they were caught running a child sex ring.

Police said in July, a 35-year-old woman filed a complaint with the police, claiming that her daughters, aged nine and 11 years, had been lured by their neighbours into offering sex services in exchange for money, according to a report in Thai Rath.

    D11 Comet:

Police will initially charge them with a violation they can circumstantially prove, hence the men have been charged with paying a child prostitute for sexual services. Because of the statement filed by the mother, the confessions from the 2 daughters, and the admission from the neighbors, police had enough evidence to lay the initial charge.

Thailand still requires body of proof to lay rape charges, so the police will more than likely upgrade the charges to rape once they have the 2 men in court.

At this stage it is still an accusation filed by the mother, with supporting evidence from the victims and the co-conspirators.

"The men have also been charged with paying a child prostitute for sexual services."
Wait a minute! Is'nt a crime (considered rape) to have sex with underage girl?
Can someone shed some light on the law related to such cases.

I think Issan features a lot for the same reasons as Farangs do, it is selective reporting. I live just 40 km outside Bangkok and see the same events taking place around me, but it is not deemed news worthy. Or perhaps Bangkok papers don't like digging in their own dirt?

How come there is poverty in Isan...afterall most of the poor people are farmers and the government is helping to improve their living standards so that these people can spend more and enjoy life...maybe the sex offenders are enjoying or the sisters need to sniff glue to enjoy? Imagine if the whole lot of farmers benefit from the get rich scheme what is it going to happen?

Thailand's people are so proud of their country and culture. Why does this not translate into more affirmative action to protect the members of society that need protection? Go figure!!

    Amazing Thailand.

I find it curious that these types of stories almost always take place in Isaan and that Isaan is also the country's main source for prostitutes. I know the obvious explanation of poverty etc. But, other parts of the country have poverty, as well. So, I think there seems to be some essential morality and ethics missing among the people of the northeast, not least of which is absentee parents.

Thailand's uneducated future being laid out right in front of the whole country to see. Things will get worse as the country worships money more than anything else.

Beyond the shadow of a a doubt these girls come from poorer families.

Eradicate the extreme low income poverty caused by greed and corruption.

    Eradicate poverty; better society.

DAO D2: IMO moral leadership begins at the very top, and and the top of the pyramid in general if those with the ridiculous wealth they horde cannot feel more empathy for their Thai family as a people, then measures should be taken to re-distribute the country's wealth.

What do I think about the above? Not much. Hard to imagine how these events could have occurred with no awareness on the part of the parents and other nearby adults. Hard to find any moral integrity amongst the people involved.

On the positive side, sex tourists may now take a second look at Khon Kaen. Oh no, forget that idea, their services were apparently only available to local customers.
