Charter change referendum planned for new year

The cabinet is expected to announce that a public referendum will be held on constitutional amendments.

The coalition's working panel on charter change forwarded its decision to proceed with holding a referendum on the amendments to Ampon Kitti-ampon, the cabinet secretary-general, Pheu Thai Party leader Charupong Ruangsuwan said Saturday.

On Friday, the four coalition parties _ Pheu Thai, Chartthaipattana, Chart Pattana, and Phalang Chon _ issued a joint statement, saying that they would move to organise a referendum before moving on to the third and final reading of the charter amendment bill.

The party being severely defeated by the general election must obey and keep to the regulations and the law of democracy in democratic nation.
The party being severely defeated by the general election must not scheme to deprive the government of its political power by weapons like gangsters.
The old influence group being severely defeated by the general election must not expand a false-flag propaganda of new government for depriving the political power.
The old influence group being severely defeated by the general election also must keep the rules of politics.
If Thailand is a civilized country, you can understand it.

Actually governing wisely takes effort and thinking abilities. Far easier to simply attack enemies, play golf, take taxpayer paid trips to Europe, service the mia noi, and always root to bring T back with no legal consequences for his law-breaking.

Just like the 2010 protest the majority of the people know already what they want for a constitution. These people were very happy with the 97 constitution and would like it or most of it back.

23 million is impossible to achieve. Therefore you are guaranteed a "No"

If you are guaranteed a particular result then you are guaranteed the result you want simply by asking the right question....

Do you want to keep the 2007 Charter = No
Should Thaksin go to jail = No
Should charges against Abhisit & Suthep be dropped = No
Is the Bangkok post correct in it's interpretation of the referendum act = No

Discussion 11 : Is that possible for you to stop to continually twist the fact to make them appearing as you like ?
Result of an election is NEVER EVER counted in eligible voters but by the percentage each candidates get from the total amount of valid votes. Otherwise you make people non interested in politic, people who were aboard, sick, etc... opponents of this government but in fact you have no clue about it.
It is not new, it has been at any times everywhere in the world, including in Thailand 20 years ago when the Dems were able to win elections. Be adult, don't change the rules in the middle of the game.

The first question will the referendum be binding? Or will the Pheu Thai simply do what they want irregardless of the vote.

Then there is the Drafting Committee, with only 76 elected (for which the PTP already controls 50% of the provinces) and 24 more appointed by the PTP. It is obviously a one party process. How about an equal number of peer chosen members representing various socio-economic groups.

pt want to change the bible of thailand, which has served the jurdisical system and the law of the land well for years,so they can bring back their master,to give him amnesty on his convicted crimes against the nation, its the only method they can use,is to change the law ? for one very desperate man ,its shameful, and must be stopped

@ Discussion 1 Nice thought but most of the rural PTP supporters could not understand a Charter or Constitution if they spent a week studying it. No, the vote will be based on which answer will give me the most free stuff, just like the election was. It's also sad when the idea of a convicted fugitive becomes policy this quickly.
