Cambodian workers to get passports

The Cambodian government will start issuing passports to its citizens seeking to legalise their working status in Thailand from its embassy in Bangkok next week, so they can avoid deportation.

Cambodian Foreign Ministry spokesman Koy Kuong said Phnom Penh would send officials to provide passports to its nationals starting Dec 28.

"Our working group is working with their Thai counterparts on that, and now our government has decided to send a working group to provide passports for our people there," Phnom Penh Post quoted him as saying.
