Chavanond fingers former cops

Democrats conduct own beating 'intelligence op'

The two men who beat up Democrat Party legal expert Ramet Ratachaweng are believed to be former policemen previously stationed in Nonthaburi, Democrat spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut says.

He attributed the information to the party's own "intelligence operation" which found the two former officers had been dismissed from the force and are now working in a gambling den in the Bang Na area of Bangkok.

Mr Ramet, also a deputy Democrat spokesman, was assaulted by two men outside his condominium in the Bang Na area on Monday night.

"However, Mr Ramet's family refused to allow deputy city police chief Pol Maj Gen Itthipol Piriyapinyo, who is leading the investigation into the politician's assault, to question him in hospital yesterday".

I fully understand their fears. He and other criminal affiliates of Thaksin might finish him off.
