PHUKET - An Air Berlin Airbus made an emergency landing at Phuket airport on Thursday night, bursting several tyres, after smoke was detected in the cabin 20 minutes after taking off on a flight to Abu Dhabi.

No injuries were reported, but over 1,000 passengers' flights were delayed while the runway remained closed.

Just 20 minutes after taking off from Phuket for Abu Dhabi, flight, AB 7425 with 249 passengers and a crew of 10 turned back to Phuket international airport.

Masterlu D#2: May I politely correct you: Air Berlin is ranked among the top 10 safest airlines in the world and has a spotless safety record with no accidents causing fatalities since conception in 1978. 2012 ranked No. 9.

Air Berlin and some other as named as "cheap airlines" had many problems here in Europe. One time not enough fuel loaded to safe costs, oil loss...I never would book a flight on these airlines not within europe and never, never a long distance flight. Safe your life and spend less more money for high quality airlines with modern equipment, like Emirates or Thai Airways!
