DSI asked to probe graft in police station construction

The Pheu Thai Party has asked the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to investigate alleged graft in the construction of 396 police stations at a cost of more than five billion baht.

Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit filed the complaint on Monday.

He said many police stations across the country had been demolished under the rennovation programme and never rebuilt. As a result, many precincts had to operate out of temporary structures.

Yes D15 such events are not a TS only it is very simple a game that includes many from all colors and the goal is to get the bigger piece of the cake. It’s about money as money is power.

I agree with Brilliant,D14. Red poster,"facts_only",goes through great lengths to find articles that will somehow portray a negative picture of the Dems, even if unjustified. When it comes to Thaksin/PTP/UDD,he do no such thing. This is called political bias and the way he carefully selects his material,I'd say plenty of it too. The name should be,for example,"red facts only" since "Voice of Thaksin" has already been taken.

The Dems spent billions just before leaving office. You figure it out.

    brilliant (disc. 14) and facts-only (disc. 10),
It's not a Pheu Thai or Democract thing, it's a Thai politician and Royal Thai police thing.
It is impossible to believe honestly that Thaksin was not corrupt, but this is equally true for at least some Democrats (military conscription anyone?), and the PMs following the numerous coups amassed such wealth amazing wealth, along with motly cronies, as to make even Thaksin pale into innocence. Those are the truly corrupt.

Anyone who thinks that PT and Thaksin have a monopoly on Thai corruption and traditional Thai patronage politics is naive to the point of wilful dishonesty.

facts_only - "The 660-day project was approved by the previous Democrat-led government...Chalerm said he was not in office when this project was approved...[Chalerm] vowed to look into this case and bring the perpetrators to justice." - TN, Nov 26, 2012"

Again half truths and BS. So what if it was approved under the previous government, it was to be implemented under the current government. and they failed. Again.

How about names and places? Or any other information to shore this up into a full fledged news article? Without something else this is kind of a non news story.

"...graft in the construction of 396 police stations at a cost of more than five billion baht." - above

    Police stations? Or apartment buildings?

"Chuwit said a police housing project, consisting of 396 apartment buildings worth Bt5.84 billion, had been abandoned and was far from completion...The 660-day project was approved by the previous Democrat-led government...Chalerm said he was not in office when this project was approved...[Chalerm] vowed to look into this case and bring the perpetrators to justice." - TN, Nov 26, 2012
