Severe flooding ravages 13,000

NARATHIWAT : More than 13,000 people in Narathiwat have been ravaged by severe flooding in the far South province over the past two days, with Sungai Padi and Sungai Kolok districts particularly hard hit.

Narathiwat's provincial centre for solving floods and landslides reported the flood on Monday and yesterday announced the disaster has affected 13,547 people in 131 villages across all 13 districts of the province.

A total of 5,187 people need assistance in Sungai Padi, while in Sungai Kolok eight communities have been submerged by 70-90cm of water.
