I am very sad to hear this, I have never had any problems with the Police in Thailand. I do know several police officers socially so of course I know that they are just people with human problems.

After all, Police Officers are also human beings with their own problems and frustrations. We use to have wrong look at them always thinking that they are out for our money, which in most cases they are, but we should not forget that these are normal people like you and me, with their feelings, problems, constraints, frustrations, sometimes bringing them over the limit of their yielding capacity. I feel sorry for them. I feel sorry for their family, their kids, their friends, their colleagues... Behind this simple "fait divers" hides a whole drama that perhaps no one will know!
