SONGKHLA: Employees of Songklanagarind Hospital in Hat Yai district urged the government to place them in civil servants' positions after resignations by hundreds over the past several years have cause a staff shortage.
About 150 registered nurses and members of healthcare professionals’ group at the hospital met with Education Minister Phongthep Thepkanchana on the premises on Wednesday.
The group urged the minister to change government employment status and hire staff as public servants, so they can collect benefits similar to those given to workers in other government agencies. They filed their request with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in October last year during a mobile cabinet meeting in the southern province.
