Law expert named as new AICHR delegate

International law expert Seri Nonthasoot has been selected as the new Thai representative to the Asean Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) for the next three years.
The Foreign Ministry's selection committee, chaired by permanent secretary Sihasak Phuangketkeow, decided yesterday to nominate Mr Seri as the AICHR member from Thailand, citing his solid background in human rights law, diplomatic sources said.
Boonthan Weerawongse, a veteran human rights defender, came second.
