National airline envisions aviation hub

THAI gearing up for expansion of services

TOULOUSE : Thai Airways International (THAI) envisions turning the country into a hub for air travel, aircraft maintenance and aviation training.

Sorajak: ‘Rival competition is stiff.’

THAI president Sorajak Kasemsuvan said the ambition, if realised, would keep the national airline competitive in the regional, commercial aviation industry.

    Sounds familiar - this was Thaksin's idea years ago. He wanted Thailand to take over from Singapore. Unfortunately, Suvarnabhumi was only marginally bigger than the airport it "replaced" and Don Muang had to reopen to cope with the air traffic.

    actually being established. This one even sillier than most as "pilot training"
    requires " English",a commodity of which Thailand has little of.

    Thailand seems fixated with hubs for anything they think will make them money, medical hub, tourist hub and now an aviation hub. Hubs go round and round in circles just like Thailand getting nowhere with their crazy plans rather than addressing the real issues that plague the country.
