Residents: Ponds poisoned by factory

Residents in Rayong say several local ponds have become contaminated after a large amount of gypsum sludge was dumped in Muang district.

Thongchai Bhromnak, a member of the Eastern People's Network, said the sludge was dumped into three ponds located on private land in tambon Noen Phra.

He said locals fear that hazardous substances from the sludge would contaminate the groundwater and soil.
