A elderly villager gathering food and herbs in a jungle area of Thung Saliam district in Sukhothai province has discovered a previously unknown pristine cave of beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.

On Tuesday, Taweep Jaimoonwong, 51, the head of a village in tambon Klang Dong in  Thung Saliam district reported the discovery of the cave by 60-year-old Pankaew Thinakruea, a gatherer who wandered the jungle atop thao Do Mae Tan mountain, according to a report in Thai Rath.

The cave is hidden by thick vegetation with a sharp rock formation blocking easy access to it.
