Ruling on PM's minister set for Feb 1

The Constitution Court will deliver a ruling whether Prime Minister's Office Minister Varathep Rattanakorn is qualified to hold a seat in cabinet on Feb 1, court spokesman Pimol Thampithakpong said on Wednesday.

A ruling was requested by the Senate speaker on receiving a petition from 24 senators.

The petitioners said Mr Varathep  might not qualify for the cabinet post because he was sentenced to two years in jail, suspended for two years, by the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions in 2010.
