Prayuth to troops: Stand down at ASTV

Army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha has made a u-turn on protests by soldiers at ASTV Manager and told them to stand down.

The second rally against ASTV Manager on Saturday drew about 30 soldiers from the First Army Region to the media group's offices on Phra Arthit Road. (Photo courtesy of Daily News)

Gen Prayuth thanked his men for protecting the dignity of the army but ordered all unit commanders to stop lashing out at the newspaper, said Col Sansern Kaewkumnerd, the army spokesman.

Disc 76 - "The mentality on certain comment boards is rapidly becoming like a red rally" Perhaps the tide is just changing against the side you support. As you have 4 posts on the page I'm looking at alone it makes me think you are the one trying to convince everyone your side is right by defending it and attacking the other. All sides have the right to comment, or in your Utopian Democracy should only your side be allowed a say.

This is the version of government and the army reds obviously want -

"The Interior Ministry's proposal would "make stateless children illegal persons who must be arrested under the Immigration Act and deported from the country", Mr Surapong said."
"Worse, he added, the move completely ignores the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the constitution and the Child Protection Act."

    Sickening.

Khun Abbub #55, if Sondhi Limthonkul's wish of not having the coup was granted, what do you think will happen? He was determined to boldly go into an uncharted political territory, which most senior members of the Military did not want to go. That's how the last coup took place, to bring it back into a familiar political territory, through a vicious cycle of civilian election and military coup. Do you agree that winning an election is just a beginning part of Democracy? The rest is how to govern the country justly and fairly. Do you think we have achieved that? Therefore, what made you think we have Democracy?

musashi - " the collective suffering felt by the majority of Thais"

Are you including those in the South or just Isaan?

Disc 68 - There is not a single PTP elected in the South and few reds or UDD either. Your argument should be with the yellows and the Democrats who basically control the lower 20% of the country. Neither of which did anything during the Democrat tenure to find a solution to the Southern problems.

In France army must respect an obligation of silence, which forbids them to express their opinion, to make strike or demonstration, to avoid and abuse of power. "The power corrupts; the absolute power corrupts absolutely ". The place of the soldiers is in their barracks, under the orders of the power elected democratically. They must accept criticism of free media even if they are not ever justified. Patriotism is a noble thing, nationalism is toxic. We paid to know that especially in Europe with the wars but you also in Thailand with the coups… We should not forget lesson of the history, if not, we repeat the same dramatic errors.

The soldiers of Siam have defend the land for thousands of years, even before the dinosaur and sacrifice all they can do, just like in the film Bangkrajan. So I am think yellow shirt should respect our soldier more, not insulting them, because insult them is to insult all of Thai people.

lor - you're joking right? You make it sound as if there's no reason to even mess with the South. But to reds, there's not. What's a few dead Southerners a week? And there's not 15 or 20 reds on here, funny how the likes and dislikes get so skewed. We know that reds spam these boards(and people's personal messages) trying to convince others of their shallow beliefs. No thanks.

brilliant #60: "I see the red commenters are out in force spamming this board."

Interestingly you have just put into perspective the collective suffering felt by the majority of Thais (who voted for PT). It is sometimes amusing, but mostly frustrating when yellow trolls keep trying to tell the country how to "squeeze lemonade from watermelons".
