Pattaya wants to transform itself into a green and family orientated destination. That's the plan, the dream and the motto. How is that going to happen if it still hosts drug parties, binge drinking and all degenerate acts and behaviors you can think of. Laws are lax and authorities close one eye (sometimes two) so how is it going to climb out of the hell hole its in? Soon it will be known as Suicide Resort if no serious actions are taken.

3,2,1...waiting for the claims and insinutations that all the high rise falls by farangs must be murder. Never mind that there are probably a hundred easier ways to kill someone and that in almost every case simple examination of the facts show that the 'farang' who died had hit hard times, was depressed, completely blotto, had a debilitating health issue, witnessed doing something stupid, etc. Thailand is like an elephant graveyard for farangs who rather than return home opt to end it here when their last saleung is gone and/or their bar-girl teerak leaves them.

Maybe we will never know how this happened. But one thing is clear: In Thailand many balconies have a very low barrier and it is easy to accidently fall from one of those. Maybe it’s time to bring up some regulations that balcony walls must have a reasonable minimum height to prevent accidents. But on the other hand maybe such a regulation exists already and is totally ignored – like so many other regulations (the thing with no big buildings in little Sois comes to my mind).
