Ministry draws up grand plan

The Education Ministry is kicking off the drafting of the country's education strategy for the next three years.

The strategic plan from 2013 to 2015 will cover education quality, provision of educational opportunity, teacher reform and bringing educational management in line with the labour market.

It also covers technology development in education, research support, and human resources improvement in preparation for the launch of the Asean Economic Community in 2015.

It also failed to talk about ways to put the strategy into practice, Mr Sompong said.

    And that said it all!

Paragraphs 2 and 3 say wonderful, needed things but other areas of the announcement say
for 2013/2015 and the "draft" won't even be submitted for approval until May 2013. That approval will probably take 60 to 90 days after which a budget will have to drawn up and submitted to yet another committee - add 60 to 90 more days and the 2013 school year is kaput ! What is most tragic about all this is the plan being drawn up by EDUCATORS. Math anyone ?

Scrap the No Child Can Fail policy, no motivation for students to learn and no motivation for teachers to teach.
