Duo linked to illegal trade of 843 Rohingya

Arrest warrants have been issued for two suspects linked to the arrest of three groups of Rohingya illegal migrants in Songkhla province.

The suspects were identified as Prasit Lemle, a former mayor of Padang Besar municipality in Sadao district, and a Myanmar national named only as Jamanadin.

The two are accused of smuggling roughly 843 Rohingya migrants into Thailand in three groups from Myanmar and providing them with accommodation, Pol Maj Gen Suwit Choensiri, Songkhla provincial police chief, said.
