Surin: Government needs to prioritise

The government needs to wisely choose which urgent problems to deal with - political, constitutional, education or labour, former secretary general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Surin Pitsuwan said Thursday.

Mr Surin, who last week handed over the secretary-general's job to Le Luong Minh in the Asean capital of Jakarta, was launching two books published by Amarin printing house.

    This man talk a lot yet he have shown his partiality favoring China not the four ASEAN countries who are in conflict with China over the spratly island along the pacific ocean. He failed to performed his expected duties as secretary general of the ASEAN for several years. I'ts good that a new secretary general from Vietnam replaced this inutile man.

    @boontong D2,

    Mr Surin is not in the government. His word are nothing more than sound advice, most likely to fall on deaf ears.

    Just because Thailand is just next to Burma does not mean we have to swallow this Rohingya problem. The best place to send these people to is the Middle East. There are so many Muslim countries there to take them and they don't even need to assimilate themselves to whichever Arab countries they are sent to.

    It is easy to say the right thing, but, to do the right thing right is not in the talking.

    Mr Surin Pitsuwan would be great alternative to the current Prime Minister.
