Police in Krabi province on Monday arrested a village chief and two men suspected of having links with organised crime and confiscated some drugs and firearms.

Police said Anan Sunhat, the 55-year-old chief of tambon Khlong Kanarn, Sanya Chaipim, 38, and Veerasak Songsaeng, 45, were charged with illegal possession of weapons and narcotics.

Police found an Uzi machine gun, two pistols and two grammes of crystal methamphetamine inside Mr Anan's house. Six shotguns, a machine gun, a pistol, two sets of body armour and ammunition were also discovered inside a worker's home.

    @bkksim, d3.

    As long as thais sell their votes, and say "mai ben rai" to almost all issues, they will never get the police force they need. They do however already have exactly the police force they deserve.

    @Patchar. When the prime minister(the real one) is on the run from the law for crimes agains his country.
    All the people look up to him and think that what he has done is great and they want to follow him.
    When will Thailand get the police force that they need and deserve?

    no wonder that even ordinary people are invloves in criminal acts such as rape, thief, murders and lot more because their village chief is link with organised crimes. He is the village chief supposed to enforced peace and order in the village but the is the law breaker. People in the village must be carzy why they put him as the chief.. What;s going on here in Thailad... I'm concern with foreigners going in that place... they must be the targets of this organised crime..
