Case ends with the arrest of Kamnan Poh

Police and the Medical Council have indicated that no action will be taken against officials and a hospital in connection with the arrest of fugitive Somchai Khunploem on Wednesday.

The capture of Somchai, alias Kamnan Poh, threw up questions about those involved in his furtive return to Thailand and hospital treatment. They include those who sheltered him in Chon Buri, police in his home province and Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, who treated him under the false name of Kim sae Tung.

Pol Maj Gen Supisarn Bhakdinarinath, chief of the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), on Thursday hinted that police would not take their sting operation any further after putting the former influential figure in jail.

soltair 16 - I checked the Thai language version of the Thai Penal Code. The law is optionally enforceable, as you said.

He must have had some 'very important people' protecting him. It's Chalerm's job to find out who they are.

The new article by BangkokPundit titled "Godfather of Chonburi goes to jail… for now" is worth reading.

It doesn't look like he will live much longer. Type 2 diabetes and Hypertension are not a good bedfellow. Not looking good for this miscreant.

Whoa.....Kamnan Poh doesn't look like a happy camper. I imagine that the people involved in aiding and abetting him aren't too happy either, but they won't be investigated by the police. This is Thailand, the land of smiles, and lots of illegal opportunities.

It is time to strip the "Royal" from the Thai Police Force's name. They are a disgrace.

"Dr Amnaj (Medical Council President) was certain the hospital had treated him without the knowledge that he was on the run from jail terms."

Everyone knows Kamnan Poh!!! This includes the staff at the elite Samitivej Hospital. His looks have not changed. What about that female doctor in the car with him?

Why not just keep the whole saga under wrap and proceed only with the case at hand, instead of coming out to say that they will not carry out their duty in accordance with the full extent of the law?

No one knew who he really was, not even his son.
