BoT: Banks will open on April 12

The Bank of Thailand will issue a notice stipulating that April 12, 2013 is a normal working day for banks even though the cabinet had set the day as a public holiday for Songkran festival.
BoT governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul said on Wednesday that if April 12 was set as a holiday for financial institutions, its money delivery system could be affected.
Five consecutive holidays are too long for financial institutions, particularly for commercial banks, he added.
