DSI eyes big catch in police station scam

Mystery man at PCC tied to political honcho

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) probe into corruption allegations over the bungled police station construction scheme will cover a key suspect said to be linked to an influential politician.

Thanin Prempree, deputy director of the Bureau of Special Crime 2 of the DSI, said the DSI now had some information to establish a link between this suspect and the influential politician but needs to dig further into the matter.

Mr Thanin was asked if the real owner of the building registered as the address of the head office of PCC Development and Construction Co, the sole contractor of the project, is an influential figure in Chiang Mai.

This has been thrown into the arena purely to blacken the Dems before the Bangkok election. I'm willing to bet that no more will be heard after March 4th (unless the Dem candidate wins, of course).

Sounds like a very familiar Thai story of the wealthy using influence to line their own pockets. Hope they get brought to justice but thats a rare thing.

It seems Tarit only likes to take aim if it isn't PT.

It is better for DSI Tarit to formally place charges. This will avoid speculation and allow the law to take process.

Whoever the guy behind the fishy deal is, catch him and put him in jail for life. This guy is too bad and too corrupt.

I like the way these unnamed influential figures are tipped off so they can cover their tracks and make some phone calls.

Doesnt take a genius to conclude that this is tit for tac politics. If you look back Thailand political history, this kind of politics really picked up since the coup. The coup started this politics motivated charges. This is not healthy politics as crimes are picked and selected for political reasons. All factions are quilty. Hope this will decline when we finally have reconciliation.

Sadly, this is the kind of continual and usually unassailable corruption that has plagued Thailand for decades regardless of political party.

Nice to get it out in the open, BUT, my feelings remain the same: "Big fish, little fish" That is, the rich & powerful do not pay...
