Mr Suthep, who oversaw the Royal Thai Police during the Democrat administration, insisted that neither he nor former premier Abhisit Vejjajiva had any knowledge of a letter from potential bidders opposing the Royal Thai Police plan to centralise the bidding process for 396 police stations nationwide.

brilliant #55 - The present government has indeed followed up the contract and see to its completion. They have magnanimously allowed extensions to PCC based on the reasons given by the bid winner, but they did not make good the situation despite extensions. The horrifying part is during the course of inspecting the project implementation; irregularities surfaced. If the government has not been diligent in its monitoring of the project, irregularities won't surface.

majority - "If a former PM could be sentenced to 2 years imprisonment for allowing his wife to openly bid for a piece of land, then the one who approved every step of this fishy deal which caused the state damages in billions of baht, must be put behind bar the rest of his life, if not a capital punishment."

That's just silly and disingenuous. And the current government was the one responsible for implementing and overseeing the contract. What's up with that?

Does that also apply to the corrupt government that was supposed to implement and oversee the project also, but kept putting it off until they had to find a scapegoat for their own incompetence?

It would be wise for the ex Dep PM to let the court of law handle the case first before making any counter move against a government official who is just doing his job.

If the Dems are responsible and did something wrong, then why did PT not blame them for that while PT was in the opposition? Isn't it the oppositions job to scrutinize what the ruling party does?

And if it was the Dems mistake and mess, then why would PT approve an extension of the contract saving PCC 5.8 million baht a day(!) in fines? Could it be some deal like reducing the fine to one million per day and another bank account number? Maybe PT has something to explain as well?

This is rich. He looks and sounds like a Thai version of Richard Nixon: "I am not a crook!"

Virtually, all Thai politicians are corrupted, including Suthep. So, the question is how corrupt is he, and compared to whom?

Suddenly I had a flashback of Richard Nixon's "I am not a crook" speech.

Was the People Power Party (PPP) not set up by Thaksin where his team nominated Samak ex-Bangkok governor as PM for PPP? I recall PPP was then disqualified so that led Thaksin to set up Pua Thai Party (PTP) so the DSI need to investigate this matter with Thaksin right?
