PAD indictments put off to March 14

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has postponed until March 14 the indictment of 114 members of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) over their occupation of Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in 2008.

The OAG was scheduled to issue an indictment order today, but agreed to the delay at the request of PAD lawyer Puangthip Boonsanong.

Ms Puangthip said the suspects in the case were still preparing surety for bail. They were in the process of entering a contract with the Justice Fund, which had approved between 600,000 and 800,000 baht for each of them to use as a guarantee for bail.

D7 : "Sometimes this stuff is so over the top, that one wonders where it comes from, and what motives are behind it".

This "stuff" comes from a place, little known to the swallowers of red propaganda, called R-E-A-L-I-T-Y. Maybe you should go there some day?
The comparison is based on something called F-A-C-T-S,an unheard of concept in the red villages. Maybe you should try it some day?

    Disc 5,
"In December 2010, the Criminal Court ruled to sentence PAD guards who called themselves "Sriwichai warriors" and 85 protesters from one year to two years and six months in jail for offences when they stormed into NBT television station on August 25-26 in 2008. Of these, six, who are underage, were sentenced to two-year suspended jail terms"

Are these the "very few violent incidents" and "most cases have already been heard" the ones you are refering to, or are there more?

Disc. #5: "UDD embraced violence and intimidation as their stock-in-trade. They murdered, burnt, looted, rioted and used high explosives during their protest... All with the clear and obvious approval of their paymaster. PAD had very few violent incidents in comparison - and most of those cases have already been heard"

Although this case is nearly four years old, it remains one of the most important cases before the Thai courts. So long as the perception if not the reality remains that judicial outcomes are colour coded, the prospects for achieving durable reconciliation will remain holed below the water line.

    I agree.
I think the PAD cases should be heard ASAP.
And I think the UDD cases should be heard ASAP too (although preferable without interference from the government).
And while it may be galling to watch PAD members as yet not in court, the cases need to be compared. Pickpockets get a slap on the wrist... Murderers don't.

UDD embraced violence and intimidation as their stock-in-trade. They murdered, burnt, looted, rioted and used high explosives during their protest... All with the clear and obvious approval of their paymaster. PAD had very few violent incidents in comparison - and most of those cases have already been heard.

Unbelievable......"Double standards" in action folks...... Believe what you see..... I couldn't agree with Packman more (Disc. #1)

All that is left, is to speculate about the why's and what-for's.

Don't forget the UDD/Red Shirts have been jailed and persecuted for actions stemming from 2010....This PAD action occurred 2years before that even.

Thank heavens for elections. They add perspective to where the voters are. The Judiciary is in a different world ...Like two solitudes.

Where has the law and justice been for these people for over 4 years now. Even a blind man can see the partiality shown and given to the PAD. This is one of the key reasons reconcilliation cannot happen.

  • Discussion 2 : 07 Feb 2013 at 16.112

    Justice delayed is justice denied.

That's how this case has taken years to get this far...a month delay for this...two month delay for that ...Etc...Etc...Etc.

It never ends. Over 4 years and they walk free while red shirts sit in jail without even the chance of bail. And you wonder why May 2010 happened.
