Nua Mek 2 footage destroyed: MP

TV Channel 3 has destroyed the last three episodes of a prime-time political soap opera “Nua Mek 2” which it abruptly pulled off the air early last month, the House committee on political, media and public participation development said Monday.

The committee had demanded Channel 3 hand over the finale of the controversial soap opera so it could decide if the content was inappropriate and threatened national security as claimed by the station.

Channel 3, however, informed the committee that it could not sumbit the videotapes of the last three episodes because they no longer existed, said Democrat MP Supachai Srila, who heads the committee.

Video tapes destroyed I for one, am certain there is a hard copy somewhere, just one copy of tapes is very very unlikely! Hand them film over, or what are they hiding?

Channel 3 is fully responsible. They are giving the appearance, of having been censored by the man in Dubai, and that might well have been their intention, but it seems that things didn't turn out very well. They had to go to the extreme of destroying the tapes, lest their ploy becomes obvious.

Some countries burn books, Thailand prefers videotape. Welcome to the middle ages in the 21st century! Pathetic little witch hunt...

I find it very difficult to believe the writer and producer don't have details of what was in the last three episodes.

Destroyed on executive order from Dubai.

One would assume this is being used as a political ploy of some type for some reason.

Surely the scripts remain. Otherwise, Channel 3 is just like the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth, where Winston Smith once worked.

Channel 3 is clearly afraid of upsetting the Boss. Is the climate of fear really that bad already? Or is Channel 3 pandering to the Boss for personal gain? To me as an observer, both scenarios are pathetic.

Censorship by the Puea Thaksin regime in a nut-shell.
