'Cruel couple' face further questioning

A couple released on bail after they were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 12-year-old Karen girl and forcefully detaining her as a household servant for five years in Kamphaeng Phet province would face arrest warrants if they fail to appear for police questioning next week, the Provincial Police Region 6 commissioner said on Thursday.

Pol Lt Gen Wanchai Thanakij said investigators at Muang station summonsed 35-year-old engineer Nathee Dangoon, his 33-year-old wife and dog beauty salon owner Rattanakorn Piyaworatham for questioning next Monday, Feb 18.

Police would immediately seek warrants for the arrest of any of them who do not turn up, Pol Lt Gen Wanchai said.

Just wondering, but what violence, debauchery, decadence, immoral, perverse and mortification needs to be committed in Thailand, for bail to be refused? And some say a video shows Thailand in a bad light.

This story is absolutely horrifying; 2 items, particularly so. The girl was returned to the torture chamber by the police the first time she tried to escape. And this pair was released on bail. Incredible. I first came across this story in the Pattaya Mail yesterday. Another disturbing item; this poor 12 year old girl, after all she's been through, a mass of scars, was made to stand undressed before a crowd of men and photographed for the press. Where on earth are child protection services? is it necessary to wait for Paveena Hongsakul to show up in person before any humanity is shown? Disgusted!

Why cannot arrest in the first place?

If they're guilty, throw them in jail and throw away the key.

"Three years ago, I managed to escape from the house and someone took me to the police, but the officer took me back to them again."

If Thai police bothered making reports about such incidents, it would now be possible to find the officer and prosecute him along with the parents. Unfortunately, as it stands, the officer will never be identified, and the parents will most likely never show up for "further questioning".

This was aired on Thai TV a couple days ago. The injuries are horrifying and what hell this poor girls lived through. I hope the judges put this couple away for life. What I cant figure out is how where they allowed bail? they will never show up.
