UDD to dispatch 10,000 city election observers

The red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) will send 10,000 volunteers to monitor all polling stations during the March 3 Bangkok governor election, says its chairwoman Tida Tawornseth.

Election laws state, however, that any unofficial election monitoring will have to be done outside of the polling stations.

Mrs Tida yesterday led a group of 30 volunteers to submit a letter to the Election Commission (EC), the Bangkok election panel and the city clerk, asking them to keep a close watch for poll cheats to ensure a fair and clean election.

Having an observers at polling centres is normal practice in all democratic elections around the world. As stated in the report for procedures is correct, I just can't understand why it has been reported? As it is normal practice. No doubt the Dems will have observers in place at all polling centres as well

And who will volunteer to monitor the Redshirts?

When will anybody teach the red-shirts the meaning and rules of democracy? Just a few points: Intimidation is not part of democracy; getting paid for harassing people with other opinion is not part of democracy; accepting the rule of law is part of democracy. Is that really so difficult to understand?
Maybe the EC should ban any candidate with connections to groups with don’t accept the rules of democracy.
