It's not all sanuk here says survey

LONDON - If you're Thai, don't get angry. But the fact is, you're not as much fun as the rest of the world thinks you are.

Oh yes, we might have the crowd-pulling Songkran festival, a vibrant and carefree nightlife and a culture based on sanuk. Yet we're a bit dreary, really.

At least that's what a social network site claims. Thais, it says, have fun less often than most nationalities.

Let's have some fun!!! The survey is a brillant result, I agree with the findings. Remember Maradona? Hey gringo? Midnight express? Angela Merkel? Saturday Night Live? Monty Python? Of course there's fun in the world, just different types. Walk the streets here and there's lots of fun, so don't get upset and teary eyed when Thailand is not number one. I too have a great Canadian friend, but he wants to be French. Smile, laugh and have a fun Sunday!!!!

Without cheap and easy sex, Thailand would have NO tourists. That pretty much sums up Thailand.

Disc1: whatajoke: 'I've never met a Canadian with a sense of humour'

Have you ever considered that it might be YOU?

    And I AM a Canadian!

'a vibrant and carefree nightlife' Based almost entirely around the sex industry. No, I don't have 'fun' here. and as to Canadians being humourless, I have a Canadian friend who is hilarious. but perhaps that's because I'm English and we both get 'irony'.

Anyone that has time to complete a survey on Badoo would have to be considered boring!

  • Discussion 10 : 17 Feb 2013 at 10.4710

What an idiotic Badoo-survey !! I can't say it better than Eggmeng:'If fun is to be defined by social networking geeks I'll take tedium any time'!!

In the Past 34 years I have seen a massive decline in the Thai Sanook Good feeling , I guess it had to happen with the Westernisation and all the personal debt...I really dont like the New Thailand as everything is down to money and possessions, buy after spending most of my adult life here I have no idea where to move on to all I can say it will not be ANY on that top 10 as I have tried them all.

The survey makes sense especially Thailand being ranked in Asia as one and only nation. (If Singapore is featured as one, then there is something wrong with this survey).

But to say that Americans and Europeans enjoy themselves more often than Thais is subjective. What is fun to them which is mostly routine and repetitive like pub visitation, dreary football weekly matches or Amerian football is not much fun to the rest of the world. Latin and Thai funs are much more realistic and sincere and enjoyable by all races. It is the quality of fun that counts.

Maybe its your jokes without the laugh-track.

whatajoke, so you've met maybe 1 Canadian. Canadian humour usually escapes most Americans, but the Brits get it. Excuse me now, I'm off to put on sack cloth and plow some fields.
