The next Bangkok governor should ensure cleanliness and safety, convenience and comfort for visitors, private tourism operators say.

The operators have come up with some ideas for upgrading Bangkok's tourism industry and proposed them Monday to candidates Pongsapat Pongcharoen and Sukhumbhand Paribatra.

Candidates like Pol Gen Pongsapat and others are fortunate as BKK may want a fresh face since two term DEM has make no significant improvement. Perfectly aware also that there are some die hard that will still vote the incumbent come hell of fire. Well, the best part of this is the democratic process that allow people to chose.

The fact is that we had DEM candidate serving BKK for two term, and yet fighting really hard to win the election is amazing. perhaps, DEM could share those promises made in the last two election and tell us what they have accomplish and why DEM deserve our support for vote.

What have Sukhumbhand been doing for the last 4 years? Propaganda and extarvaganza projects like Sanam Luang and unfinished arena. BTW he said he will sue FIFA and we're waiting to see that he does what he said which he never did.

Yeah, make it nice for tourists..for making money of course..the highest God in Thailand. And what about the Thai and Expat Bangkok residents? We are living here 365 days a year and are just hearing promises and more promises. Get your priorities right before you start a new enterprise. No new plans, no new laws; start implementing and enforcing properly the ones you have. Start doing what a Governor and his staff have to do..

tourism-related crimes will fall by half in a year,........easy to predict as tourists will reduce by a half.

'Make Bangkok attractive' Try starting with taxi drivers. As a regular visitor to Thailand and Bangkok I am becoming increasingly frustrated with how difficult it is to actually get a cab. They never want to travel by meter and they never want to go in the direction you do. If tourists feel like they are constantly being ripped off why do they want to return? I am sure this will be good for locals as well, many a time I have seen a driver shake his head and drive off as the person on the side of the road is left to continue the process of hailing another taxi, only to meet with more rejection.

“They stay for an average of only one day now”.
Isn’t that long enough given the state the city is in? Traffic, potholes, clogged footways, stench, rats and all.
As Thailand is bidding to host Expo in Ayutthaya in 2020 I somehow doubt the judges will ever get beyond Bangkok to see the proposed venue, they’ll just turn around and go home.

With current inflation Thailand is quickly loosing its luster as a cheap tourist destination. Prices are no longer a very attractive magnet, and the infrastructure in all the tourist cities is not keeping up with the growth, so the Russian, and Chinese markets may dry up soon.

Try stopping the scams, you go to the grand palace and before you have got the taxi door open someone is saying to you it is closed for the day or you will have to wait hours to get in because their is so many people waiting to get in. also the taxi's their is a number to complain but when you phone it no one speaks English so what is the point of have the number. I know this post sounds a little negative but true.

Bangkok's worst tourist complaint can be summed up in one sentence; sidewalks are for walking and nothing else.
