The Central Administrative Court on Wednesday ordered the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to build a walkway and a bicycle lane along one side of Saen Saep canal from the mouth of Sukhumvit Soi 39 to Asoke bridge, after a woman fell into the canal and drowned on Jan 5, 2010.
The court also found the BMA guilty of neglect of duty in leaving the existing foothpath and cycle lane along the canal in disrepair, leading to the accident.
Amorn Vanichwiwat, a resident of Sukhumvit Soi 31 in Khlong Tan Nua area of Watthana district, filed a lawsuit against the BMA on Jan 5, 2011, citing the accident on Jan 5, 2010 when the woman, Noppawan Khongworawan, fell into Saen Saep canal from a broken part of the concrete foothpath behind Amari Atrium Hotel and drowned.
