Russian travel scam in Pattaya

Fourteen Russian tourists are demanding that police speed up their investigation into a scam by a Russian travel company in Pattaya.

The tourists told the superintendent of Pattaya Police Station on Saturday that they had paid a total of 3 million baht for package tours but the operator did not keep her promises.

They filed their original complaint last Monday against Natalia Aleynikova, the 55-year-old operator of the World of Chang travel company in Bang Lamung district.

Pattaya is the toilet bowl of Thailand.....one big cesspool of prostitutes, mafia and rip artists of all shapes and sizes. Unbelieveable how that place has totally changed in the last 10 years. I'll never go there, ever again, it's a horrible place.

Fourteen years ago I stupidly owned a bar in Pattaya. I was approached by 2 men who said they wanted to be partners in the bar. I informed my police protection officer (who I paid 5,000 a month) He said don't have anything to do with them, they are Russian mafia. They were known about even then.

Pattaya is ruled by Thai and foreign Mafia for decades, as the police is profiting handsomely from the scams everything will stay business as usual.

Maybe the company just got bankrupt. I remember tens of thousands of Thai Limited Companies in 1997, who got loans from banks and put 30 percent in own pockets and only 70 percent in the business. After declaring bankruptcy, the owners were all very rich suddenly, but could not pay company debts to the banks.

I wonder how did those tourists comunicate with our police men? The Russian who cheated the tourists must have been in Thailand quite sometime. They might already learned Thai and the art of cheating as well.It is ashame that they cheat their own people.

The pattaya police is well aware of the Russian mafia in the city. They are involved in money laundering, construction and prostitution. Somehow Thailand does not care about the background of foreign investors. This has made it a haven for money laundering operations. Some of the foreigners in pattaya are involved in Taxi stand rackets too. The sad story is that, there are still some genuine Russian tourists who are not aware of what their own brothers and sisters are upto in Pattaya. Every government that has come to power has promised to clean up Pattaya but, it just gets sleazier by the day.

Russians bring in all these white Russians for the police to feast on. Is there any wonder that they get away with murder?
