Minister shocked by massive storeof rotting rubber

Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Yuthapong Charassat said he was startled to find 10,000 tonnes of rubber left to rot in warehouses in three northeastern provinces under the government's pledging scheme.

The abandoned raw rubber was found during Mr Yuthapong's recent inspections of storage facilities in Bung Kan, Udon Thani and Si Sa Ket provinces.

The rubber stored in the warehouses was pledged under the government's scheme to stabilise rubber prices in over 56 provinces nationwide.

They say they were not aware of the rubber mountain. To start with rubber is no longer needed so why encourage farmers to continue producing the stuff. It beggars belief.Could they manufacture somthing with the rice and rubber that will capture a world market. That could be a good earner.

The red apologists are conspicuously absent, hard to defend the indefensible.

Let a government interference with market working and you will smell of decay.

Rice, rubber, palm oil, petrol, LPG. You name it, as soon if the controllers start to control the corruption start and the pockets get filled by the buyers of those products.

The rubber stored in the warehouses was pledged under the government's scheme , same as the rice scheme. Red shirt leader and Deputy Agriculture Minister Nattawut promised his fellow red shirt rubber farmers to take care of the price, after massive protest by rubber farmers some months ago. No wonder, that rubber prices had rebounded sufficiently.

Wait till they see how much rice rots in government subsidized warehouses.
