Three hurt in 7-11 double blast

National Security Council chief says South violence now 'under control'

Militants staged 29 attacks including at least three bombings, conducted several drive-by shootings and set fires including to a stack of tyres that stopped bus and highway traffic out of Pattani town on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

INCONVENIENCE STORE: Bomb disposal officers inspect the blast site in front of a 7-Eleven store opposite the 45th Ranger Regiment. Two bombs were detonated at the site in Narathiwat’s Rangae district Satuday, injuring three people.

Earlier Saturday, a three-year-old was among three people injured when a 7-Eleven store in Narathiwat was rocked by two explosions.

Considering the mayhem which is taking place almost every day, what is even more alarming than the terrorists' attacks is the fact that the National Security Council's secretary-general still has a job. One wonders what it would take (another few hundreds killed and maimed?) for that soldier to be dismissed. What is happening in the South suggests that the Thai army is lame at the highest level. In this context, lame means corrupt and IQ deficient.

Tell me about the CCTV cameras operations.

I naively though there would be a "control room " where steely eyed experts would be scanning multiple screens and then hitting the action stations button calling the nearest rapid response units who would trap those two teenagers and disarm the bombs. You know what I mean, a real world Thai version of that movie with CIA director Russell Crowe and Leonardo Dicaprico

Have I got it wrong, don't tell me the CCTV feed are being dumped onto tape and reviewed only when an accident occurs.

Wasn't the budget for a fully manned service or shouldn't I raise this sensitive subject.

The only thing the National Security Chief and his army cronies have under control is their budget. Lot's of people get filthy rich on the back of the violence that ruins lives. If only Thailand was a democratic country, than the government could fire all those incompetent stars.

'Under control' means something is operating within acceptable limits. Given that these comments are made on the PM's weekly talk show presumably she concurs with this assessment. I have news: There are no acceptable casualties as far as terrorism is concerned

The chief of the National Security Council is clearly delusional.

Reading the daily reports of killings of innocent civilians, seeing pictures of the mayhem and damage caused to property by the by the cowards who hide bombs in places to cause maximum damage, I have changed my opinion of what the perpetrators should be called. Forget, insurgents, rebels, militants or even my preferred description; terrorists. Those responsible are absolute scum who deserve no sympathy and should be destroyed by all possible means. They will be treated as humans when they treat others as humans.

South violence “under control”! Nothing could be further from the truth. Fire the person who made this ludicrous statement and get a spokesperson who has the guts to state the truth. The PM is correct to want the public informed, but not with outright lies that the violence is under control.

"The attacks are seen as retaliation against the government after marines killed 16 militants." Only terrorists retaliate against three-year-olds, who don't even know what government is.
