Thanasit Songsangjan, the truck driver, was going from the Rangsit area and was about to turn right at the Poonsaub T-junction, to head to Lad Lum Kaew district, when the backhoe slipped from the trailer and hit the ground, flipping onto its side. Fortunately, no vehicle was following or near the truck at the time, police said.

Unsecured load foops happen all the time in most countries of the world. The difference would be in say, California, where the vehicle operator gets to pay for the removal as well as the fine. At a wild guess, $1,000 + $2,500.

Didn't need to secure the load because he was only driving a short distance. My wife often doesn't wear a seat belt because she says she is only going a short distance. I read this article to her and she still has her fingers in her ears saying "NA na na na na, not listening, na na na."

I don't think anyone who drive in Thailand is going to learn from this.

Short distance.. why not drive the backhoe?

Perhaps they can run the video of the accident as a continuous loop - with appropriate drum rolls, cymbal crashes and duck calls as the sound track. Not be so serious!

With drivers like this on the road, explains why Thailand has so many horrendous accidents each year.

Was this Reckless stupidity being punished or did the police just watch and do nothing as usual .

    Mai pen rai. Safety Last.

in a sensible Country the driver would be prosecuted for an unsafe unsecured load....just because he was lucky that no one was killed is of no importance..he admitted negligence, what about next time or is that also not important to the police?

Safety always comes last here in Thailand. Thank God no one else was injured by his lack of common sense.
