Good, bad, ugly in excitement city

The Bangkok Post invited our readers to join in imagining a better Bangkok through writing.     Aaah Singapore: a cousin of mine can go anywhere in his wheelchair. In Bangkok he can't even leave his hotel.

    I think someone should highlight the fact that the infrastructure such as footpaths, pedestrian overhead bridges etc that have been built by the govt are all sub-standard and is similar to those we saw in developed cities like Singapore 40 years ago. In Thailand, while the private sector has caught up with the world by providing us with 5 star shopping and entertainment venues, unfortunately pubilc amenities are still left to be desired. Stardards for building are poor inconsistent and vary from one part of the city to another. On street level it is an ugly city and the reason it still attracts a lot of tourist because its a short term safari
