7 nabbed in B312m drug bust

Police have arrested seven drug suspects and seized 800,000 methamphetamine pills, worth 240 million baht in street value, and 16 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine worth 72 million baht.

The case began when police in Samut Prakan province arrested a Thai drug dealer, said Surapol Thuanthong, deputy commissioner of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau.

Sarawut Mankong, 28, was caught with five kilogrammes of ya ice and confessed that he distributed the drugs in the Ram Intra and Lat Plakao areas, according to Pol Maj Gen Surapol.

    buster, D1,
you should be despairing. All this proves is that vastly greater amounts are getting through. These seizures make nice photo ops for cops and Ministers, but as decades of proven failure plainly show, they do nothing to help a single decent Thai citizen or youth.

They greatly benefit corrupt officials and mafia who are clearly raking it in with the government supported pricing policy. No one else is helped.

Meanwhile, Thai youth are not stupid and learn lesson well: the law is both irrational and unjust since the drug that causes far greater harm to society remains legal!

care to elaborate D1, don't necessarily see much gleeful good news in this story myself.
More low level mules banged up for eternity while the big profit takers and key players on both sides of the law stay out of sight and out of the headlines.

Maybe the Thai govt would do better to look at why the demand for said products is so high inside Thailand, And maybe addressing that better will help stem the supply and keep more Thai people out of jail.

When do the real dealers in the North get caught and not just the little dealers in Bangkok or couriers .They are the ones living in mansions next to the Burmese border .

How about the Mr Bigs that are involved in drug dealings. Its all right to arrest the little people but I have never seen any big players being arrested. I guess they are untouchable.
